The next generation in cone beam CT scanners provides outstanding images for accurate case diagnosis and planning. Launched by Morita at the International Dental Show in Cologne, the Veraview X800 won a gold medal at this year’s IF Design Awards.
Robert Pounds, managing director of The Dental Imaging Company described the advent of the new system as ‘a new era in cone beam CT technology’.
He went on: ‘The Veraview X800 is in a class of its own. It has excellent image quality to provide diagnostic clarity. With up to eleven selectable scan volumes and the option of adapting the radiation dosage to the individual patient, the scanner offers optimum image resolution at the lowest possible dose.’
The Morita Veraview X800 captures exceptional detail, guaranteeing high-resolution images of more than 2.5 LP/mm at 10% MTF with a voxel size of 80 µm (in the highest resolution mode, and as a result of performance testing after the system has been installed).
A key feature is the ability to adjust the X-ray beam from a vertical panoramic scan mode to provide horizontal beam geometry for CBCT, in order to minimise artefacts and distortion. The option of a 360º exposure angle further decreases scatter, providing the greatest possible detail, even around restored dentition. The 180º mode reduces exposure time and radiation dose.
The system has a number of new panoramic scan functions, including adaptive focal point for perfect focus across the panoramic image and adaptive grey scale to achieve a better balance in over- and under-exposed areas.
Face-to-face positioning ensures exact alignment and better communication with the patient. Operating the touch control panel is intuitive. The iDixel Web platform-independent interface allows images to be viewed using a conventional web browser from any device, including a Mac, iPad or PC, without installation of specific software.
