In the first of a series of articles, we speak to leading clinicians in dentistry about how Clinisept+ Mouthwash is improving their patient’s oral hygiene. To kick start, Zaki Kanaan speaks about how it’s helping his patients after surgery.
How long have you been using Clinisept+ Mouthwash for?
I’ve been using Clinisept+ for one year now. Both my patients and I are very pleased with it.
Do you use Clinisept+ Mouthwash on all patients in the surgery?
Initially it was just for patients who would benefit from its increased hygiene and accelerated recovery.
However, since the advent of COVID and speaking with colleagues in South Korea who routinely use hypochlorous as a pretreatment preventative mouthrinse. We now offer it to all patients.
Do you only recommend it for patients undergoing a particular type of procedure or all your patients?
The majority of my work involves implant therapy and various surgical procedures. This was what I primarily started using Clinisept for.
However after using it during COVID, many of my patients have been asking to purchase this. It is, therefore, becoming more of a routine mouthwash for my patients now.
What were the reasons you switched to using Clinisept+?
I had heard about hypochlorous as a useful adjunct to healing post surgery.
I was then approached to take part in a study. So I decided to take part to see for myself whether the claims were true.
How long do you recommend patients use Clinisept+ Mouthwash for?
Following a procedure I recommend they use it three times per day.
As a benefit to good oral hygiene I recommend it once per day.
How much of an impact do you feel it has had on your practice and patient outcomes?
I’m definitely pleased with what I am seeing when patients return for their post-surgery review or to take sutures out.
Healing is superb with very little sloughing and plaque around the surgical site.
Which benefits do you usually see, or do your patients report, when a patient uses Clinisept+ mouthwash verses other mouthwashes?
- Improved oral hygiene
- Accelerated recovery following treatment
- Reduced incidence of infections/complications
- Reduced patient discomfort
- No teeth staining
- Improved gum health
- Better user compliance
- Resolution of sore mouths/ulcers.
Are there any other benefits?
I’ve never really had issues with allergic reactions. But as mentioned before, it has resulted in an improved post-surgical response with healing.
What are the main reason that you recommend the use of Clinisept+ Mouthwash to your patients?
The main reason is how it improves healing post surgery.
How do you recommend Clinisept+ Mouthwash to your patients?
I give a bottle to all my implant patients straight after surgery.
Following this I have many patients buying it to form part of their oral healthcare routine.
Do you have any other comments regarding Clinisept+ Mouthwash?
Really just to say that I’m pleased that I’ve started using it. Consequently, I’d recommend any clinician give it a try for their patients.
There’s really nothing to lose!
