In that time, they have also helped to set the clinical and teaching standards in this exciting field, playing a major part in establishing dental implants as a mainstream dental treatment modality.
ICE offers two dental implant nursing courses:
- Introduction to dental implant nursing
- NEBDN certificate in dental implant nursing
Introduction to dental implant nursing
This one-day hands-on introductory course on the 8 of December is designed for all UK-registered dental nurses to provide insight into dental implant treatment for both those new to dental implants and those with some implant experience.
This six-hour CPD course covers all the essential elements to gain an overview of dental implant treatments:
- Overview of what a dental implant is and how it interacts with the body
- Introduction to the indications and contraindications for implant dentistry
- Overview of the stages of dental implant treatment.
The introduction course prepares the dental nurse for the NEBDN certificate in dental implant nursing course. What is more, delegates that complete this introductory course will be eligible to apply to the NEBDN certificate in dental implant nursing course at a discounted rate for February 2019.
NEBDN certificate in dental implant nursing
This eight-month course is designed for qualified dental nurses to confidently and safely integrate the knowledge of diagnostic, treatment planning, surgical and restorative protocols of implant dentistry into their practice. On completion of the course and examination, the dental nurse will be awarded with the nationally recognised qualification of NEBDN certificate in dental implant nursing.
This course will teach all aspects of implant dentistry from basic surgical anatomy and physiology, the latest minimally traumatic extraction techniques, planning a patient’s surgical and restorative journey to maintenance and complications. It will cover the importance of team-approach as well as an evidence-based understanding of the components, equipment, materials, and technologies available.
There will be a heavy emphasis on the hands-on clinical application on the course. You will gain the required clinical competence by assisting dentists at ICE during the provision of surgical and restorative stages of implant treatment.
