clinisept+ mouthwash bottleClinisept+ Mouthwash is one of the big launches at this year’s Implant Dentistry Show. Here we find out what Clinisept+ Mouthwash is.

One of the ‘big noises’ at the Implant Dentistry Show is the presentation from Dr Neil Millington and Ross Walker.

They are presenting ‘Clinisept+ Mouthwash’.

Clinisept+ Mouthwash is a new oral rinse believed to be a game-changer for both dentists and patients.

The presentation will explore the concept of reducing healing times, patient morbidity and postoperative pain.

All whilst increasing the speed of primary closure of oral mucosa and with effective oral decontamination.

Dr Millington believes the combination of Clinisept+ Mouthwash’s chemistry and efficacy, along with its total lack of toxic and cytotoxic effects, creates a product that will become the standard ‘go to’ mouthwash for dentists, hygienist and patients across the board.

What’s wrong with the current mouthwashes?

With so many mouthwashes already in the market it’s difficult to choose what is best for our patients.

Chlorhexidine is a key ingredient for most mouthwashes.

That’s despite the fact it is widely recognised that patients tend not to like it.

The taste is not ideal and persists for a long time, plus there is the problem of staining, which in some patients is severe.

There is also increased reports of patients developing sensitivity to Chlorhexidine, including hypersensitivity and anaphylaxis.

Chlorhexidine isn’t ideal for anything other than short term use.

How it works

Dr Neil Millington and Ross Walker’s presentation will therefore review the chemistry of Clinisept+ Mouthwash and how it compares to the products that are currently in routine use.

They will cover both the microbial control, and effectiveness against viruses, fungi and spores.

The speakers will also explore the concept of the ‘ideal antiseptic’.

Their presentation will review the phenomenon of increasing antibiotic resistance and the fact that, as responsible practitioners, we have our part to play in reducing our reliance on them.

A truly effective antimicrobial mouthwash, which has no susceptibility to create resistant microorganisms, does not induce allergic reactions in patients and has no toxic or cytotoxic effects, most definitely helps to reduce the need for antibiotic use.

Using Clinisept+ Mouthwash

Dr Millington will give his first-hand experience of using Clinisept+ Mouthwash within his practice during the past 12 months.

He has now completely replaced the use of Chlorhexidine both during the surgical and restorative phase of treatment.

Aim

  1. To learn about the limitations of existing mouthwash and disinfectant technologies
  2. To learn about a new mouthwash technology
  3. And to understand the implications for patient outcomes following the different types of mouthwash.

Objectives

  1. To learn of the impact of the microbial load on wound healing and associated risks of infection
  2. To appreciate this in the context of dentistry and oral procedures
  3. Increase your knowledge of different mouthwash selections
  4. In the light of Dr Millington’s experience with Clinisept+ Mouthwash to understand the many ways in which the product can be used in the everyday practice of dentistry.
