Implant dentists who wish to experience how computer-guided freehand surgery aids more accurate implant placement can attend hands-on introductory courses in 2017.
The one-day ‘Dynamic navigation for dental implant treatment’ course is presented by certified Navident master clinical trainer, Dr David Burgess, at his state-of-the-art clinic near St Ives, Cornwall.
According to Dr Nick Coley of the Lander Dental Group, Truro: ‘Delegates experience first-hand how dynamic navigation helps achieve greater accuracy and certainty in dental implant case planning and placement.’
Dynamic navigation technology
Participants are given an overview of the complete process, from patient diagnosis to navigated implant treatment. They have the opportunity to prepare dental implant sites on models and phantom heads using dynamic navigation technology. The course also includes observation of live case planning and surgery using the Navident system.
Dr David Burgess explains: ‘The course is particularly suitable for dentists with an interest in adopting the latest techniques in implant dentistry. The content is designed for clinicians who wish to learn how dynamic navigation can help to simplify their digital workflow.’
Attendees are given an understanding of the principles of computer-guided dynamic navigation and how the technology differs from conventional drill guides and freehand surgery. Nick Coley concluded ‘dynamic navigation with Navident seems to me like a logical progression in implant dentistry’.
Limited to five delegates, the course will take place on 28 April, 16 June, 11 August and 22 September 2017 and will offer attendees 6.5 CPD hours.

What is Navident?
Navident is an affordable and easy-to-use navigation system that provides real-time precision guidance for increased accuracy within 0.5mm of the treatment plan. Preparation of the implant site is carried out completely freehand, using the CBCT data in real time as a virtual guide.
Navident takes away the uncertainty that exists once the surgeon starts to drill following conventional protocols. Navident offers better visibility and accessibility, and plans can be modified at any time, even during treatment. It enables minimally invasive flapless drilling without a physical guide. The system is compatible with any implant type, drill system and all known dental CBCT devices.
